Fortunately, passport renewal is now more efficient, particularly for passports issued after 2015.
One of the key requirements for renewal is your National Identification Number (NIN). If you obtained your passport after 2015, you likely already have an NIN. If not, you’ll need to visit an enrollment center to register before proceeding with your renewal.
Step-by-Step Guide to Renewing Your Nigerian Passport (Home & Abroad)
- Visit the Official Immigration Website
Go to www.immigration.gov.ng to begin your application. - Complete the Renewal Form
Fill out the online form and select your preferred processing center. - Book a Biometric Capture Appointment
Choose a suitable date for your fingerprint and photo capture. - Make Payment
Pay the applicable fees online through the portal. - Gather Required Documents

- Letter addressed to “The Assistant Comptroller General, Passport and Other Travel Document, Nigeria Immigration Service, Abuja”
- Original Nigerian passport
- Photocopy of passport data page
